Meet Yvonne
Tell us a bit about yourself
London born, Jamaican heritage. Alongside a 40-year connection with the health and fitness world, professionally and personally, I have ventured into the role of cabin crew, started a virtual business supporting coaches and trainers with operational needs.
I trained as a coach and life skills trainer, co-founded a business network group and co-founded a training company in Jordan, in addition to corporate training delivery and coaching women transitioning from employee roles to self-employment.
It’s been a long journey to finding my mission and settling into the work that fulfils my soul, guiding and resourcing women with the tools to build the most important relationship of their lives, with themselves. Through self-care and mastering the art of growing through change, I help them embody confidence and joy, so they can thrive and put their brilliance out into the world from a place of energy.
I moved to Bath 20 years ago following a major life reshuffle and I’ve never looked back!
What inspired you to join Bath Women's Fund?
I attended the launch event in 2018 with zero knowledge of funding circles and left feeling encouraged by what was possible. Paying it forward has long become one of my life principles and I felt aligned with the vision Bath Women’s Fund held and still holds. We are stronger together and can do so much more as we have seen with the £100,000 Bath Women's Fund has been able to grant to the amazing local charities and organisations we have supported over the past five years.
What are the issues that you are most passionate about?
Women’s health and the impact our behaviours around self-care have on future generations. We have a responsibility to nurture ourselves not only for our personal wellbeing but as role models. Encouraging and advocating for young girls/people to ensure their needs are met begins with showing them how to do so, not simply words. Plus, women hold up half the sky! The best way to do that is from a place of thriving (energy) not depletion.
I am passionate about women coming together across all ethnicities, religions and age groups, in allyship and to create impactful lasting change in a world that is crying out for community, empathy and kindness.
What would you be most interested in learning about as a Bath Women's Fund member?
How we can accelerate the power of collaboration to activate & drive change for women and girls, not at the expense of men and boys, rather to close the gap in all areas, professional and personal.
What is your favourite place/thing to do in and around Bath?
I love Hall & Woodhouse! Whether it’s a meet up for a coffee, a space to work, or an evening meal, I love the atmosphere there. I also love The Little Theatre and have fond memories of time spent there when I first moved to Bath. And whilst Bath is constantly changing (new shops, shop closures, etc) I still enjoy the feel of it.
