Meet Louisa
Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a North Devonian, so I am drawn to the countryside and the sea, happiest in my wellies or flipflops! I enjoy travelling and have lived in Italy, France and California. I also love singing and I dabble with writing and am starting a course for young people with Bath Spa University in the Spring.
When I was 15, I planned my first fundraising event; laying the foundation for my love of organising events and bringing people together for good. I originally trained and worked as a primary teacher then spent a decade working in property sales and marketing, which is what brought me to Bath in the late 90s. Since then, I have worked in fundraising, events and relationship management with some brilliant regional organisations such as Westonbirt Arboretum and Bath Festivals and also run my own freelance events business. I currently work in philanthropy at the University of Bath.
What inspired you to join Bath Women's Fund?
I love bringing people together to make meaningful connections and have seen first-hand the power of philanthropy. Being a member of Bath Women’s Fund is a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded women who want to come together to help women and girls to thrive.
What are the issues that you are most passionate about?
I am interested in many things but the two issues close to my heart are protecting our natural heritage and the cultural arts. Access to nature and the arts are evidenced as having huge benefits for mental and physical health and I’d love to see more opportunities for people to learn, enjoy and benefit from them and in turn value and protect them.
What would you be most interested in learning about as a Bath Women's Fund member?
I am keen to find out more about the charitable organisations empowering women and girls with opportunities to be involved in whatever interests them.
What is your favourite place/thing to do in and around Bath?
There is so much going on in Bath! I love exploring some of the amazing cultural events the city has to offer and getting my friends and family together. Our current favourite family eatery is Charm Thai on George Street, as it reminds us of our travels around Thailand in the summer. I can also be found walking the countryside around the city with my beloved cocker spaniel, Tilly.
