Meet Kate
Tell us a bit about yourself
I've been lucky enough to live and work in Bath for over 16 years, raising a family and learning how to be a Festival Director (my first career was in Publishing and PR) working with the most brilliant debut, local and national writers and musicians. In the process I also found my two inspirational work colleagues, Kate Hall and Jas Barker. We set up Bath Arts Collective in November 2023, our own social enterprise that aims to develop and drive a vibrant and varied arts and culture programme across Bath and North East Somerset. We now have our own Curious Minds Festival, a network Bath Arts, Culture and Events and a variety of consultancy projects - it's been the most amazing year!
What inspired you to join Bath Women's Fund?
I heard Isobel speak at a networking event and was intrigued! There are so many brilliant women working tirelessly across Bath and North East Somerset to get stuff done and I wanted to be part of something collaborative and ambitious and determined to make a difference.
What are the issues that you are most passionate about?
Gosh, so many... Much of my recent career has been focused on making culture and cultural events accessible, diverse and inclusive. As a Trustee for Bath City FC Foundation, I've also been involved in supporting the incredible projects they run in schools and community groups. I want opportunities for our young people to thrive in this city. I want to urge all women like me who took career breaks that there are fascinating and fulfilling opportunities out there for them. And I want a nightclub that is just for middle aged women to let our hair down!
What would you be most interested in learning about as a Bath Women's Fund member?
As a new business owner, I'm just so aware of all the things I don't know and I'd love to hear from those further ahead than me. I'd like to find out about new projects and initiatives and to learn how we might all collaborate together effectively.
What is your favourite place/thing to do in and around Bath?
I absolutely love coffee at Daisy & Bean, a mooch around Mr B's Emporium, easily the best bookshop (and staff) in the world, followed by a pie and pint at The Raven and some live music at The Grapes with friends.
