Our May potluck picnic took place in the Lonsdale Room at BRLSI, Bath's cultural hub, looking out over Queen Square and featuring a cast of a Plesiosaur on the wall.
Since 1824, BRLSI has been sharing science, literature and art with the Bath community, including raising awareness of women who have lived in or visited the city through the 'Bath's Extraordinary Women' guide and exhibition. We learned more about BRLSI's history and collection, this special bicentenary year of celebration, events and opportunities to get involved.
We got to explore The World Revealed exhibition after hours featuring key people and events in the two centuries of history. Many objects are on show for the first time in living memory and we saw 1850s photographs of the city of Bath, Jurassic fossils collected by the famous Mary Anning and a Romano-British brooch from the first century AD excavated in Lansdown.
We also had an update on the grant programme for Bath Women's Fund in 2024, looking ahead to our Grants Award Evening in June.
